| As I've grown in this profession, I've found the people aspect one of my favorite parts. I love getting to know families, their pets and I admire those relationships. Dr. Meg Frey |

| Karla Hicks, LVT I have over 20 certified years as a technician, and have had a love of animals since I was knee-high to a grasshopper (as my Grandfather used to say). It all began as an avid volunteer at my local Vet office through junior & senior High School. Then I was accepted into an Accredited Veterinary Technician program at NDSU in 1985 and graduated with an Associated Degree in 1987. Immediately I took a position in the Florida Keys where I stayed for 11 years. In 1995 I challenged myself by taking, and passing, the National Boards. After going through Hurricane Georges in Sept 1998, my husband and I decided to move on and start fresh in Oregon. At that point, June 1999, I started working with Dr. Frey at Forest Heights Veterinary Hospital as her Office Manager/LVT. After a few side career changes with Veterinary Orthopedic Surgery and Veterinary Diagnostics (MRI, CT and Radio Iodine Therapy I-131) I have actually come full circle myself by coming back home to Dr. Frey and Full Circle Veterinary Care. I look forward to meeting all of you and getting to know your furry loved ones. |

She moved to Portland and began working with horses as an assistant trainer at a local barn. She decided to return to school in order to prepare for application to veterinary school and later graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. |
| cont'd She entered private practice in order to build and nurture long-term relationships with patients and their owners. She and her husband Joel live in NE Portland, where they enjoy hiking with their two dogs, Zoe and Calvin. They live with a 50 pound Sulcata Tortoise named Rasputin, who was rescued at the Tufts Wildlife Clinic. Dr. Stuart also enjoys riding horses, reading, running, camping and gardening. |
