    Doctor

Dr. Emily Stuart grew up in Winston-Salem, NC. During her childhood, she kept many pets, including dogs, cats, fish, parakeets, gerbils and a rabbit. Once in college, she adopted her first ferret, which started a 13 year tradition. Her first degree was a BA in Fine Art from Bard College. She moved to Portland and began working with horses as an assistant trainer at a local barn. She decided to return to school in order to prepare for application to veterinary school and later graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine.

She entered private practice in order to build and nurture long-term relationships with patients and their owners. She and her husband Joel live in NE Portland, where they enjoy hiking with their two dogs, Zoe and Calvin. They live with a 50 pound Sulcata Tortoise named Rasputin, who was rescued at the Tufts Wildlife Clinic. Dr. Stuart also enjoys riding horses, reading, running, camping and gardening.

Growing up as an “Army Brat” helped me realize at an early age how important the human animal bond is. I’ve had a love for animals my whole life, and my first job was as a kennel assistant when I was 15. I was hooked!

I was accepted into the animal health technology program at Murray State University in 2000 after graduating from high school. I graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture with an emphasis in animal health technology. I sat for, and passed, my national boards and became a licensed veterinary technologist in October of 2004.

Since then, I’ve worked in both emergency and private practices and have enjoyed developing and using my skills as a technician to the fullest. While I love the excitement that an emergency practice can bring, I also really like being able to build long term relationships with both clients and patients.

My husband Chris and I, along with our two dogs Murray and Zoe, and our cat Ellie, relocated to Oregon from right outside of Nashville, Tennessee, in July 2015. We are both enjoying getting to know that Portland area.

I’m so excited to be a part of the Full Circle family, and can’t wait to get to know all of our clients and their pets!
